Bloomingdale safety walk on August 19

ANC 5C04 Commissioner John Salatti writes:

"I am convinced of the real decency of most of our neighbors. On that foundation, we can together build a stronger community for the good of all and one that is capable of dealing with any problems we face."

The Bloomingdale Public Safety Initiative Invites You to Join Us on Our Next Neighborhood Safety Walk!

During our safety walks, residents were able to share with 5D officers some of the concerns residents have raised about criminal activity around Bloomingdale. So if you have an issue or concern, come out and let officers know directly. Join your neighbors and MPD and walk the streets of Bloomingdale! A strong, diverse community presence will announce that this neighborhood does not tolerate: crime, drugs, violence, and prostitution! We also encourage a caring community where neighbors look out for neighbors and who appreciate what everyone brings to the community table.

These Safety Walks cover ALL of Bloomingdale. The route of each week’s walk is determined by those who come out. So come out and ensure that we walk your block!

Wednesday, August 19th, 6:00 p.m.
Meet at the corner of 1st and Rhode Island, NW (outside of Windows Cafe)

Kids and dogs welcome!

The walk will go forward if we have just LIGHT rain, but if the rain is heavy or we have thunderstorms, then we’ll cancel.

We can do it!

The Public Safety Initiative also encourages residents to organize "Sit Ins" on their stoops or porches. That's another great way to fight crime and build community.

I won't be able to participate in the whole safety walk, but I will be out with my camera to try and do a pictorial on the event.

Add this event to your calendar.
