Between the comments on eckington (way better than spotsylvania) and Prince of Petworth, everyone wants to claim Bloomingdale for their own. I wonder how long it will take before the tug-of-war between LeDroit Park and Eckington over who gets to annex us is joined by, say, Truxton Circle or Washington Hospital?
Here's Wikipedia on the borders of Bloomingdale:
The neighborhood of Bloomingdale is in the heart of Washington, D.C. less than two miles (3 km) north of the U.S. Capitol. Specifically, Bloomingdale lies south of Channing Street NW, east of 2nd Street NW (north of Rhode Island Avenue), east of Third Street NW (south of Rhode Island), north of Florida Avenue NW, and west of North Capitol Street.
Even Google Maps is in on the act, and the neighborhood is clearly labeled.

it's amazing how many people want to believe that bloomingdale is an idea made up by people moving into the neighborhood in the last few years...
IMGoph, agreed...
As much as Bloomingdale has been called out in blogs (everything from I hate DC( http://whyihatedc.blogspot.com/2009/06/i-wish-real-world-would-just-stop.html) to PoP), I think people are starting to get it.
Here's one - will the new development at McMillan Reservoir be part of Bloomingdale? If so, isn't the real northern boundary Michigan Ave? Just sayin'...
mcmillan is a part of bloomingdale. definitely. what was there before filtration system? was it part of the old soldiers home property? or the rosedale estate? i'm pretty certain that north capitol didnt continue beyond michigan. not even sure if michigan existed. anyone know?
I think Bloomingdale is safe from Eckington annexation thanks to North Capitol Street. I also think Bloomingdale is distinct enough from Ledroit Park to stay its own neighborhood.
